Lockwood & Co.: The Screaming Staircase

The much-promised book review of yesterday the day before yesterday:

(WARNING: DO NOT READ IF YOU CAN’T STAND HORROR)

Title: Lockwood & Co.: The Screaming Staircase

Author: Jonathan Stroud

Publisher: Random House Children’s Publishers UK

Genre: Horror

Pages: 440

Age: 10

Rating: 10/10

This is the absolute best horror-book series of all time (or in my mind at least).  The Screaming Staircase is the first book in the Lockwood & Co. series and it is wonderful.lockwood-co-no-1

Lucy Carlyle is the story-teller/main character.  She is living in London where the ‘Ghost Problem’ has been raging for over 50 years.  As a psychic investigator, Lucy investigates and stops hauntings all over London with the rest of her team (George and Lockwood) from Lockwood & Co., one of the city’s many psychic investigation teams.  When one of the agency’s cases goes horribly wrong the agency is given a £60,000 fine to pay by the end of the month.  But when they get a chance to take on a case that will pay the whole bill, and that’s just by arriving at the place they have to, there’ll be a chance to get back into business.  In order to get the money they must spend a night in England’s most haunted house.

I loved this super-scary book and would recommend it greatly.  I have to say that I would only recommend it to people over 10 who love horror because it is very scary.  I would rate it 10/10 and definitely think that all horror-lovers would adore it.

(IF YOU DISLIKED THAT BECAUSE YOU HATE HORROR THEN I TOLD YOU SO!)

Now, lastly for Rainbow Girl‘s questions:

How long were you home schooled?

I was home schooled all of last year, so only 1 year.  It was heaps of fun.

What type of school do you go to now?

A very good one!  I can’t say the name (because that is too personal), but it’s very fun.  By the way, it’s a state school, if that’s what the actual question was.

For today,
