Title: Ruby Redfort: Take Your Last Breath
Author: Lauren Child
Publisher: HarperCollins Children’s Books 2012, Harper Collins Publishers Ltd
This is the second book in the Ruby Redfort series. Take Your Last Breath is probably my second favourite in the series.
Ruby, a 13-year-old genius, is still working for the secret spy agency Spectrum 8. After wrapping up her last case, Ruby is now working on the beginning of another. This case has an awesome code in it that, with a little bit of time, can be quite easily understood. The mystery of the case that Ruby is solving is one that involves mysterious under-water sounds.
The code in this book was created by Dr Thomas Gardner instead of Marcus Du Sautoy as it is in the rest of the series.
I would definitely recommend this book and all the rest of the series. It is quite long and takes a little bit of time to understand, but in the end the reading is totally worth it. Just to elaborate a bit on my point about it taking a bit of time to understand, you have to read a few bits a few times to make sense of them and so it requires a lot of patience. I would rate it 10/10 for being an excellent and challenging book that I would recommend to over-10-year-olds.
